What is Western State Championships

Bringing together the AYSO Core, All Star and EXTRA teams from California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington states for the next step in sporting competition and celebrating the AYSO team experience.

Team Check-In

All teams must check in at least 60 minutes before their first match. Coaches should come to the team check in tent on the west side of the snack bar with these items.
  • Blue Sombrero generated Team Tournament Roster (signed by the RC)
  • Coach & Assistant Coach ID Cards
  • Player Registration Forms (medical release forms)
  • Player ID Cards
  • Two (2) pre-printed game cards. Game cards must be generated from Blue Sombrero - see Blue Sombrero Game Card Printing Instructions.

COACH NOTES:
  • All Coaches & Assistant Coaches MUST have a current fall season Region or Area issued, Coach Photo ID Card.
  • Coach & Assistant Coach ID cards must be worn and remain visible at all times during each match.
  • Coaches are required to have in their possession, AT ALL TIMES, signed copies of each players Player Registration Form (medical release form).
  • Home team (listed first on the schedule) choose side of field to occupy and if uniform color conflicts, home team to change uniform color.
  • Standard Coin Toss.
  • All matches must have a winner. If tied at the end of the 4th quarter, winner to be determined by KFTM.
  • Game cards will be collected and reviewed by Tournament Staff.
  • Pets (i.e. dogs) are not allowed at AYSO games or practices.

  • Referees must perform a player and field safety check before each match.
  • Coach & Assistant Coach ID Cards are REQUIRED. ID Cards must be worn and remain visible at all times.
  • Home team (listed first on the schedule) choose side of field to occupy and if uniform color conflicts, home team to change uniform color.
  • Standard Coin Toss.
  • All matches must have a winner. If tied at the end of the 4th quarter, winner to be determined by KFTM.
  • All game cards will be collected by the onsite Tournament Staff. 
  • All matches must be officiated by 'neutral' referees. Parents and siblings SHOULD NOT referee their own child's match.
  • Coaches & Assistant Coaches MAY NOT referee matches within their respected division (regardless of flight).
  • Pets (i.e. dogs) are not allowed at AYSO games or practices.

Lake Forest Sports Park

The 86-acre Sports Park and Recreation Center opened in November 2014, and is one of the largest sports park in Orange County with 57 acres devoted to sports fields and a multi-functional recreational center.

In addition to hosting the Lake Forest Cup Tournament, the Lake Forest Sports Park continues to host both Area and Section tournaments and events. In 2015, the Western States Championships were held at the Sports Park.

Reminder: Pet Policy

Please be aware that pets are NOT allowed at School fields - AT ANY TIME. The presence of pets at any school field, will lead to the revoking of our permits.

While some cities do allow leashed pets at city parks, they are NEVER allowed at the field during a practice or game.

For the safety of ALL our players and volunteers - please leave your pets at home.

AYSO is obligated to observe and respect existing regulations and laws regarding the presence of service animals at our fields. Service animals are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as only dogs or miniature horses that have been trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Other animals, whether wild or domestic, do not qualify as service animals.
